For over 125 years, the State Fair of Texas has been a major source of entertainment for millions and a great showcase for Dallas, Texas. The highlight of this year’s event is the return of the Fair’s iconic host Big Tex®. Big Tex will be unveiled on opening day, September 27 at 2 p.m., but it’s not open to the public. Here we will continue to update some of the best deals for you as you attend this annual festival event held at Fair Park in Dallas.
Hours: The Fair is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Exhibit buildings open at 10 a.m. daily and close at 9 p.m. Sunday – Thursdays. Buildings remain open until 10 p.m. each Friday and Saturday.
General admission: $17

Buy advance discounted tickets at Kroger beginning in September or online at bigtex.com beginning August 1.
Parking is $15 on official State Fair lots.
On Friday, September 27th for the Opening Day of the State Fair of Texas, Fairgoers can get in for just $6 by bringing in a 20 oz. Coca-Cola or Dasani product.
Coke $6 Thursday–Bring an empty 20 oz. bottle of a Coca-Cola product and enter the Fair for $6 admission.
Purchase Advance Tickets at Kroger: Avoid standing in line by purchasing your advance tickets when you’re out grocery shopping at Kroger. Advance purchase General Admission tickets are $16.00. A Season Pass is $34.95. They may be purchased at the check-out counter or at the service desk. The season pass includes a one-day companion ticket (good Monday-Friday) and one Cinemark ticket.
Dr. Pepper Tuesdays: Dr Pepper $5 Tuesdays, bring an empty can of Dr Pepper on Tuesdays, get in for only $5 – there are some ride restrictions on this ticket.
Kroger $2/Can Food Drive Wednesdays: Certain Wednesday’s admission is $3 for each visitor bringing 3 cans of food for area food banks.
McDonalds: $3 off general admission with one of their State Fair coupons. Look for this coupon on their tray liners or stuffed in your to-go bag. A $6 child ticket (with purchase of general admission) coupon is also distributed by McDonald’s. Discount may not be combined with any other offer.
Dr Pepper $8 after 5 – Any day after 5 p.m. Bring an empty Dr Pepper can and enter for $8 after 5 p.m
Cinemark Free Thursday Admission: Bring a Cinemark Theater ticket stub and get free admission on Thursdays.
Seniors Day: Senior citizens (age 60 and over) may enter for free every Thursday during the State Fair of Texas. (October 3, 10, & 17)
Dickies Day: Thursday, October 3, 2013 ONLY! Anyone wearing a Dickies logo clothing item will receive a free voucher for admission to the Fair on same day.
KISS Fridays: Download and print a coupon from KISS-FM. Admission is $12 with the coupon. Discount is off of general admission only – when purchased at a State Fair of Texas admission gate with coupon.
Fridays, Fort Worth Star Telegram Press Pass Savings: Buy One Get One FREE: With your valid Press Pass card and State Fair of Texas coupon printed exclusively in the Star-Telegram (Friday’s DFW.com section) you receive a second ticket free when you purchase a general admission ticket at any State Fair of Texas ticket booth (at regular price of $17.00).
