Holiday Light Displays Around Dallas and Fort Worth

Got family in town this weekend? Well pack them into your minivan, buckle up and enjoy the ride as here are some of the best holiday light displays throughout Dallas and Fort Worth!

Celebration of Lights- Drive through the Boulevard at SMU for a breathtaking experience with over 100,000 lights to ring in the Holiday season at the Celebration of Lights. These lights will be on throughout the holidays, if you’re feeling extra festive join SMU, family and friends for the annual Celebration of Lights. The official lighting will be on November 30, 2015.

Highland Park- This community knows how to decorate and show that they are one of the most prestigious areas around. The lights on Beverly are a must see and book a carriage ride for a romantic night and  make a stop at Highland Park Village to view even more breath taking lights.

Christmas in the Square is a fun adventure for the whole family. With over 175,000 lights, 11.5 miles of wiring and 8 miles of cords, this is the largest choreographed holiday lights and music display in Texas. There will be many activities for the family to participate in the weekend of December 10-11 and December 17-18.  These displays are located at Frisco Square.

Prairie Lights has managed to use over four million lights proving to be one of the best shows around. Half way through your drive, you can get out of your car to play in their Holiday Village where you can find Santa, concessions, lighted forest and a holiday magic theater. Prairie Lights is open daily until New Years Eve starting at 6pm every night.

Vitruvian Park (Addison)– Join in the festivities on November 27th when the town of Addison flips the switch to turn on their Christmas light display. More than 500 trees will light up the night on this 12 acre park. There will be live music, food trucks, and free photos with Santa. If you cannot make the Christmas lighting ceremony, you can still visit this park and enjoy their lights until the first of the year.

Interlochen (Arlington) – 40,000 people each year view these light shows so they must be pretty fantastic. Almost every house in this neighborhood is lined perfectly with Christmas lights. Begin your route at Randol Mills at Westwood, west of Cooper Street. Due to the popularity of this show, plan to spend a few hours here.

Deerfield (Plano)  When Deerfield was being built, it was considered “far too North of Preston” so to get more visitors to look at the homes, a $5k prize was offered to the house with the best lights. Homeowners loved the idea and went all out. When the next year came around they had so many lights, everybody decorated again – and the tradition started. You can walk, drive, or ride a horse carriage to see the lights!

Kessler Neighborhood Park (Oak Cliff)- This historic neighborhood overlooks the Downtown Dallas skyline and is in the shadows of Methodist Central Hospital. Check out thousands of lights throughout the streets as well as beautifully decorated houses. They will be starting off the 2015 Christmas light display by lighting their neighborhood Christmas tree on December 5th.

Christmas Park (Tyler, Texas) Opening in early November and closing in early January this Christmas light display is full of fun displays and a ton of lights. Santa will be on hand to take gift requests from Thanksgiving until Christmas and you can even catch a ride on Santa’s Trailer.

Farmers Branch Christmas Tour of Lights – With over 300,000 twinkling lights, this tour starts at Valley View Lane and Interstate 35, just follow the the candy cane signs. Their Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place on December 5th. You will be able to sneak in a visit with Santa and watch a fireworks show. Admission is completely free, donations will be accepted that will be benefiting local non-profit organizations.

Wonderland of Lights Festival (Marshall, TX)  recognized as one of the best Christmas Lighting displays in the country, you’ll find hundreds of thousands of white lights that adorn the magnificently restored Harrison County Courthouse on the Historic Courthouse Square. Adjacent to the lighted courthouse is the only outdoor ice skating rink in East Texas, joined this year by a beautifully restored 1948 era Carousel. Except for Christmas Eve, the Festival is open from November 25 through December 31, with live performances of both traditional and contemporary Christmas music Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.

Texas Motor Speedway Gift of Lights – Every evening from the end of November until the end of December you can walk around the speedway and enjoy their display. Visit with Santa, sip on a cup of hot cocoa, and check out some of the race cars up close.
