Bouncy Ball recipe from Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas

Materials:

  • Borax solution (100 ml water plus spoon of borax, stirred and dissolved. Borax is sold at most major grocery stores)
  • Cornstarch
  • Elmer’s Glue
  • Stick
  • Beaker (or glass cup)

Procedure:

  1. Add 15 ml of glue to the beaker.
  2. Add 8 g cornstarch to the beaker.
  3. Add 2.5 ml borax solution to the beaker. DO NOT STIR!
  4. Wait 10-15 seconds so the ingredients can start to react together.
  5. Stir with the stick until it becomes impossible to do so, and then take it out of the cup and start molding the ball with your hands.
  6. It will be sticky at first but then solidify as you knead it. This may take several minutes.
  7. Once the ball is not sticky, you can bounce it!
