Whether you’re looking for a little help to treat your child to a magical Christmas or you want to help other families in need, USPS Operation Santa is the perfect way to connect with other families during the holidays!
USPS Operation Santa started more than 109 years ago when the Postal Service began receiving letters to Santa from kids across the country. It wasn’t until 1912 that Postmaster General Frank Hitchcock authorized local Postmasters to allow postal employees and customers to respond to the letters. That simple act of kindness has led to a very successful holiday program benefitting deserving kids and families throughout the United States.
Simply write your letter, put it in an envelope with a First-Class Mail Forever stamp (include your full return address), and send it to Santa’s workshop address:
Santa Claus
123 Elf Road
North Pole, 88888
Ask for just about anything you want, but it’s helpful to include preferred sizes, colors, specific toys, or any info that ensures you get the item you’re interested in. Descriptive wish lists are also more likely to be “adopted” by others. Once your wish list is submitted and approved, the USPS makes sure to censor your personal info before putting your list up for adoption. The full list of tips, requirements, and rules can be found on the USPS Operation Santa website.
Want to adopt a letter this year? While adopter registration is opening in the next few weeks, it’s a good idea for potential participants to read through the full program rules on the Operation Santa website. You will have to go through a short ID verification and registration process to ensure a secure & fun experience for everyone.
