The City of Richardson’s Cottonwood Arts Festival is in its 40th year and this prestigious art show will be held May 3-4, 2014 and October 4-5, 2014!
This is not your average “arts and crafts” show! The bi-annual Cottonwood Art Festival brings together the nation’s top visual artists, giving families a chance to see the next Picasso in person and experience the wonderful world of art first-hand.
With more than a thousand artists competing to exhibit their museum-quality work, the free event will feature the art of 240 artists in a range of categories including painting, photography and ceramics.
The Cottonwood Art Festival offers something for everyone. In addition to viewing the impressive artwork, festival-goers can also relish in the sounds of the festival as local bands perform the best in rock, country, jazz, blues, swing and folk.
The festival also features an interactive children’s area, ArtStop, for mini-Monets. Complete with life-size paintbrushes and staffed by more than 100 volunteers, ArtStop offers a variety of activities for children and their families to encourage imaginations to run wild. At ArtStop, it’s OK for the kids to throw mud on an electric potter’s wheel, create a lasting, colorful impression of their hands with a rainbow of colored wax, and chisel away on a large block of plaster. (see below for more detailed information on ArtStop)
The artists’ works are available for purchase, as are food and beverages, and some children’s events require a fee.
Spring Festival Dates:
Saturday, May 3, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 4, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
