Experience some of the world’s crabbiest creatures with the opening of Claws at SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium on Earth Day, April 22.

The yearlong Claws exhibit will feature different crustaceans from around the world including mighty coconut crabs, unique porcupine crabs, lively land crabs and even lobsters.  The exhibit will also feature Japanese spider crabs, the largest arthropod in the world, with legs that can reach 12-feet across when fully grown.

To celebrate the opening, SEA LIFE Grapevine announces Sink Your Claws Into Recycling, a project to raise awareness about the importance of recycling.  SEA LIFE has tapped local artist Val Curry to build a larger-than-life handcrafted crab sculpture made out of soda cans.  It will take over 1,500 cans to complete the 6-foot crab sculpture.  The aquarium is asking guests to bring in empty non-crushed soda cans and turn their trash into art.

From February 1 through April 1, with the purchase of one adult ticket and donation of five empty soda cans receive one free kids admission to SEA LIFE Grapevine.  Bring in five cans for each additional child ages 3-12 and their ticket is just $5.*

The completed crab sculpture will be unveiled on Earth Day and will travel to popular Dallas-Fort Worth areas this summer to create awareness about pollution through powerful art and hands-on educational activities. For updates on the crab sculpture follow along on social media with #SinkYourClaws.

*Beverage cans must be non-alcoholic.  Children ages two and under are free.  Only available for purchase onsite.
