Fun Things to do on Labor Day in Dallas and Fort Worth

Labor Day Entertainment and Free Events

Summer is coming to an end.  But that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop!  Labor Day Weekend is a time to relax and enjoy time with our family and friends. DFW offers a ton of great events, festivals and BBQs!  If you don’t feel like staying at home, here’s our list of fun things to do on Labor Day in Dallas & Fort Worth:

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 5

Free Day of Yoga. Join thousands of other yogis for a Free Day of Yoga. Studios around the city are offering free classes all day long, so you’re sure to find one in your area. There are also some kick off festivals on September 3rd.

WEEKEND EVENTS

Blue Star Museums: Active duty military personnel and their families get free museum admission at participating cultural institutions through Monday, September 5th, as part of the Blue Star Museums program.

 Bass Pro Shops locations nationwide are offering free activities for kids and adults including free photos, free casting buckets, free ring toss, crafts and more on September 5 & 6th!

Dallas Arboretum

$5 Days @ Dallas Arboretum
8525 Garland Rd, Dallas

September 2-5, guests will enjoy $5 admission, which includes admission to the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden. Parking is full price, but the online discount is still available. We’ll also have $2 hot dogs and $2 root beer floats at the Dining Terrace.

Deep Ellum: Deep Ellum Brewing Company wraps up the summer Sunday with the Labor of Love Homebrew Competition and Festival. The event comes with music from the Roomsounds and other bands, food from trucks, and beer from 40 homebrewers competing for hearts and minds. Cold beers just aren’t the same once summer is over, so make the most of it.

Grapevine: Friday Night Fantastic Fireworks – LAST WEEK-END!
Location:Lake Grapevine
Date/Hours:Friday Sept 4 @ 9:30pm

Celebrate the end of summer and enjoy a spectacular 12-minute Fireworks show. Fireworks can be seen from any Lake Grapevine park or even from your boat!

This annual street festival in the heart of the Irving Heritage District celebrates the hometown feel of Irving with attractions for all ages. Each year thousands of people attend this family affair, which offers live music, the Manifolds on Main Street Car Show, free rides and activities for children, great food and shopping. Admission is free on both days.

Friday from 6-10 p.m.: Live music and free children’s activities. Saturday from noon-6 p.m.: Festival expands to include a car show and craft marketplace, offering a wide variety of vendors selling crafts, jewelry, décor, apparel and more.

Irving Laughs By the Lake

Friday, September 2nd, 7-10 p.m.

Lake Carolyn, located in the Las Colinas Urban Center, provides a beautiful backdrop for an evening of comedy and live music. Laughs by the Lake is the largest outdoor comedy show in North Texas, complete with food court and beer vendor. Performers include Matthew Broussard, Wendy Liebman, Myq Kaplan, and Comedian Q. Following the comedy, the band The Black and Blue will perform.

Date: Sept. 5, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Every first Saturday of the month, the Nasher Sculpture Center opens its doors for free to the public. Along with the chance to view Raymond and Nancy Nasher’s stunning private collection of one of the most extraordinary assemblages of modern and contemporary sculptures in the world, kids can take part in a multitude of fun art-centric activities. The September event focuses on heritage, and features everything from family-friendly tours of the facility to crafts, yoga, story-time and a scavenger hunt.

Urban Air

Let the kids get out and let off some of that back to school energy!  This weekend, Urban Air Trampoline Park  is hosting 2 great nights.  The first is for kids 9-12, and then a teen night on Saturday!

NEON Nights at Urban
Lights Off. Lasers On. A special event held every other Friday(ages 9 to 12) and Saturday (ages 13+) night from 9PM to 11PM. Tickets are $15 and include a wristband good for access to all park attractions, a glow stick, pizza, DJ, and Dodgeball tournament, Slam Dunk contest, or Foam Pit Challenge.

Watters Creek

It’s time for the return of Watters Creek’s popular Concerts by the Creek, Fall Series! The fun begins onSept. 3 and takes place every Saturday from 7 – 10 p.m. through Oct. 22 on The Green.

In conjunction with the Fall concert series, the first Saturday of each month is “Music Makes a Difference.” On that Saturday, a designated charity will attend the concert to bring awareness to its cause and raise funds. The featured charity will also receive a $200 donation from Watters Creek.

On Sat., Sept. 2, Watters Creek welcomes The Free Loaders, an acclaimed Dallas-based blues/jazz/swing band, performing from 7 – 10 p.m. The center’s partner in this “Music Makes a Difference” series is TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation. The foundation is the legacy of Connor Cruse of Frisco who lost his four-year battle at age 8 with neuroblastoma.

Preston Center Medical City

The team at Medical City ER in Preston Center are hosting a Labor Day Bash, and the first 100 guests will receive a free first aid kit!

The Medical City ER team invite you to bring your family and friends out to meet our team and see our facility. Enjoy free Big D Kona Ice snow cones, delicious gourmet sandwiches from Gandolfo’s New York Deli Dallas, meet Leo the Lion and Zoe the Clown, and get some fantastic face painted art while you’re here!

Omni Center Dallas

The American Corn Hole Association, 105.3 The Fan, and The Owners Box are hosting a corn hole tournament this weekend, September 3, on Pegasus Lawn at the Omni Dallas Hotel.

The tournament will begin at 12 p.m.  Grand prize of $2500 CASH for first place team.  Teams will have the opportunity to dress up as a theme of their choosing and win a golf getaway to Omni Barton Creek Resort in Austin, TX.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase from The Owners Box, Texas Spice, Biergarten, Coal Vines, Black Ship Little Katana, and Café Herrera.  The Fan will be broadcasting their live shows throughout the event.
