No one wants summer to be over so take this last chance to get out and spend some quality time with your family over Labor Day weekend! If you don’t feel like staying at home, here’s our list of fun things to do on Labor Day in Dallas & Fort Worth:

Tasty southern BBQ and a stellar line-up of legendary blues musicians like Robert Cray and Shemekia Copeland make for a smashing way to spend Labor Day weekend. This annual blues fest is so popular that it draws over 20,000 people from around the country. Festival goers can expect an array of vendors selling everything from artisan wares to food and beverages. Also highlighting the festivities are several BBQ cook-off competitions where cue connoisseurs can vote and feast on samples from a variety of pit-masters for an additional fee.

Those looking for an exhilarating adventure will enjoy trekking through the treetops of this recently opened seven-acre aerial playground. Channel their inner Indiana Jones while they traverse on 12 zip lines through six elevated obstacle courses— equipped with ladders, rope bridges, cargo nets, tight ropes and other elements to keep everyone challenged. The three-hour aerial adventure starts at $39.95 for kids ages 6-9, $44.95 for ages 10-15 and $49.95 for adults.

Sail around Lake Ray Hubbard on a 40-foot catamaran or a 57-foot power boat- charter one of the boats for your own party or you can take one of the shared rides that are offered at 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and at 9 p.m. daily. The cruises are all BYOB, so be sure to bring along your favorite beverages and a picnic, or order something from one of the restaurants at the harbor. The price for 90-minute cruises range from $25 on the Harbor Lights power boat to $30 on the Seawolf catamaran.

Located only 45 minutes west of Fort Worth- river tubing packages start at $17 per person. And you’ll even get a ride back up when you’re finished. Other amenities at the site include canoe rentals, fishing and camping. There’s also live music and karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights. Don’t worry about reservations, visitors can go with the flow daily between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Mon, Sept 7th Trains start at 1pm
Bring the family out to enjoy a great train robbery on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad on Labor Day. Train departs at 1:00pm from the Grapevine Cotton Belt Train Depot and returns at 6:00pm.  Or hop aboard the Trinity River Run, departing the Fort Worth Stockyards Station at 3:15pm, returning to the Stockyards at 4:15pm.

Say farewell to Giants of Jurassic during Labor Day Weekend! Take advantage of extended Zoo hours and live music on shady Cat Green for an epic last hoorah. Listen to the vocal stylings of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Bluegrass Band. The music kicks off at 7 p.m., but the fun lasts all night! Kick back on a blanket or lawn chair, or rent a cabana for your family and friends, while enjoying the food, craft beer, cold soft drinks and wine available for purchase. The concerts are free with the price of Zoo admission, which is $15 for ages 12-64; $12 for ages 3-11 and seniors; and children under age 2 and Dallas Zoo Members are free. The gates open on Saturdays at 9 a.m., and parking is $8 per vehicle.

The rodeo will take place nightly on Saturday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 6 at 8 p.m.  Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, free for active military.

On September 5–7, the RoughRiders close out the 2015 season against Texas League South Division rivals the Midland Rockhounds. Before the action even begins, early-bird fans can take advantage of special giveaways. The first 2,000 fans to arrive on September 5 receive RoughRiders footballs, the very same ones pitchers throw to confuse opponents each and every game. The following evening, the first 2,000 kids ages 12 and younger get team jerseys.
