The downtown Dallas skyline was lit up with the colors of France this weekend to show solidarity. If your family is like mine, we spent quite a bit if time this weekend talking about the tragedies in Paris and wondering how we could help. Here are just a few ways you can support the victims and please share in the comments below if you have any other ideas.
The Red Cross: The French Red Cross has announced it already has hundreds of volunteers on the ground working with the victims and their families. You can donate here. You can also donate to Doctors Without Borders here.
Follow or participate with the hashtag #PorteOuverte: This phrase means “open door” and has been used by Parisians offering their homes as shelter for anyone who needs it. In the U.S., people are offering their homes to French nationals stranded after France’s borders closed and many flights were delayed with the social media hashtag #strandedinUS.
Check in with loved ones: For those in Paris whose families may be worried about their safety, Facebook has activated its Safety Check feature. Normally used for natural disasters, the feature allows users to let friends and family know their status in the wake of a catastrophic event.
