Basically it’s cold beverages at the push of a button in your own kitchen. And we’re talking ADULT drinks too. WOOHOO!
I was sent the Keurig KOLD to check out. This would be one of those “luxury” items for our family. The instant I got it set up (which is a piece of cake), my daughter could not WAIT to make a drink. I think the video says it all! LOL!
Ava pretty much invited the entire neighborhood over, throughout the weekend. It really is a conversation piece and I like being able to have a variety of drinks for people including “adult” beverages! It’s a great tool for holiday parties.
Keurig’s new KOLD drink-maker offers flavored waters and sports drinks, as well as classic fountain beverages with no ice needed and no CO2 canister required.
How does it work?
***Inside some pods is packed a two-chamber system — Karbonator beads are held in one section and the drink’s flavour syrup or mixture is contained in a second. (Drinks without carbonation, such as still flavoured waters and sports drinks, only have one chamber for the syrup.
***Press KOLD’s one-touch button and the Karbonator beads first release CO2 into the drink-maker’s refrigerated beverage-water chiller unit.
***The now-fizzy and chilled water then travels through the second chamber of the pod and pours into your glass perfectly chilled, carbonated and flavored.
***The KOLD Chiller cools water internally without chemicals, delivering chilled beverages at an ideal temperature of about 39 degrees Fahrenheit
***Perfectly portioned – Eight-ounce portion size and most beverages have 100 calories or less
The Keurig KOLD makes beverages from The Coca-Cola Company and Dr Pepper Snapple Group, as well as craft sodas, iced teas, flavored waters, sports drinks and seltzers. Some of my favorites are Coke, Canada Dry Ginger Ale, Sprite and Flynn’s Soda Shop root beer and orange cream. These come in a 4 pack priced at $5.99.
And just in time for holiday parties, Keurig has released two new lines of cocktail mixers, including margarita and mojito.
A couple of points about the Keurig KOLD I want to make besides the fact that we love to entertain with it.
It’s larger than the Keurig coffee machines so make sure you have plenty of room (19.2 x 12 x 14.9 inches). It’s big for good reason though: While the heating components in coffee machines can be relatively miniaturized, much more space is needed for an effective refrigeration system.
For those savers out there, take note that the pods can be pricey (around $5.99 for a 4-pack), so consider it a “treat” instead of a daily replacement for cold beverages. There is a convenience factor: It’s easier to stock up on tiny pods than it is to lug loads of bottles or cans to the home or office.
