Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Grand Prairie
In the idyllic suburb of Grand Prairie, there’s a building that’s not quite like all of the others. Surrounded by minarets and onion domes, the colorful, temple-like structure exudes an air of mystery. There’s a good reason for that, of course: this is an outpost of Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, the globetrotting organization dedicated to the world’s weirdest and wildest sights. Inside the Odditorium, guests can explore the massive collection; spread across 12 galleries and 7,000 square feet, highlights include shrunken heads, vampire-hunting kits, and mutated two-headed animals.
Aside from the Odditorium, guests can also explore the complex’s other attractions. The Enchanted Mirror Maze encourages getting lost, sending guests through a magical labyrinth made all the more difficult to navigate thanks to the presence of hundreds of reflective surfaces. Guests can also come face-to-face with celebrities at Louis Tussaud’s Palace of Wax; originally founded by the great-grandson of Madame Tussaud herself, the museum now contains sculptures of famous faces such as Whoopi Goldberg, Johnny Depp, and the cast of Twilight. The museum also features Ripley’s trademark weirdness, with a section devoted to horror icons and a timeless Hall of Presidents that radiates civic pride.
