* Clothing – does your child need a uniform or have certain qualifications on what they can/can’t wear? Load up on coupons and online promo coupons. We list daily deals here!
* Supplies – obtain list by grade from school, schedule shopping trip, check out our weekly back to school supply deals, or order from EduKit if your school offers this option
* Medical & Immunization Records – many Pediatricians require these forms weeks in advance, to complete and sign by the start of the school year
* Registration – is your child officially registered for school and have you completed any necessary paperwork required by the school?
* Lunches – is your child planning to buy or bring their lunch? If bringing, it’s time to buy a lunchbox and lunch organizers. We list great deals daily!
* Snacks – is the school providing daily snacks, or does your child need to bring them? Include healthy snack options here
* Food Allergies or Special Needs – touch base with your school’s nurse and find out what he/she needs in order to keep your child safe in case of emergency
* Memorize Key Info – depending on age, teach your child your phone number, address, Mom & Dad’s names, etc. in case of emergency
* Backpack/Book bag – include great places to buy or special offers here
* Labels – include places to buy or how to make labels – to label everything your child takes to school
*Academic Prep – make sure your kids are reading throughout the summer. Fun board games and flash cards that will get your child ready for the next school year can be purchased at Lakeshore Learning. Many local libraries also offer summer reading challenges and programs, to keep kids engaged with reading during the summer months.
*Sleep – half the battle of getting back into the school routine is sleep patterns. 1-2 weeks before school starts (and it’s a good idea to mark this date on your calendar ahead of time), have your kids start going to bed at their normal “school year” bedtime, to get their bodies and minds back into gear for a motivated mindset.

The Lakewood Early Childhood PTA (LECPTA) is a network of more than 500 Lakewood and East Dallas families of expectant parents and parents with children from birth through Kindergarten – and beyond. We offer support through the joys and hardships of parenthood. Our group is a resource of information on parenting, daycare, education systems, neighborhood activities, support from other moms and dads with kids of the same age, mostly a fun networking experience! We encourage community involvement throughout the year with membership-sponsored events, including holiday parties, adult outings, speakers, kids’ activities and playgroups, all organized and run by our board members.

The LECPTA is also responsible for the planning and execution of the renowned Lakewood Home Festival which began in 1976 and showcases a line-up of unique and interesting homes that focus on design and architectural elements. The Lakewood Home Tour raised over $150,000 in 2014 for the Lakewood area schools (http://www.lakewoodelementary.nethttp://www.jllong.comhttp://www.woodrowwildcats.org), and includes a fabulous Auction Party being held this year at the Belo Mansion. This year’s Lakewood Home Festival will be held the weekend ofNovember 13-15, 2015
