Did you know:

  • 52.5 million – or more than 1 in 5 – American adults have some form of arthritis.
  • That number is expected to increase to 67 million adults by 2030 – a full quarter of the adult population.
  • Roughly 10 percent of all adults have activity limitations due to arthritis. 43.2 percent of patients with doctor-diagnosed arthritis have activity limitations.
  • About 1 in 250 American children age 18 and younger have some form of arthritis. This amounts to nearly 300,000 kids.
  • 26 percent of women and 19 percent of men have been diagnosed with arthritis by a doctor.
  • The most common forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis (affecting 27 million Americans), gout (affecting 6 million Americans) and rheumatoid arthritis (affecting 1.5 million Americans).
