In a day and age where the lives of celebrities are more accessible to us now than ever before, the want to emulate the glamorous lifestyles these people lead has grown exponentially. With social media apps like Instagram, celebrities (like Kylie Jenner, for example) are showcasing the exciting and aesthetic going-ons of their lives in all their filtered glory. All those photos stand as a stark contrast to the mundane happenings in the lives of us common folk.

So, it doesn’t come off as a surprise that people would want to mirror the the very lifestyles they keep seeing wherever they turn to on the Internet. The lifestyles which make them feel less accomplished, less glamorous. So, where do people begin with, if they want to follow the lifestyle of a celebrity? Their clothes, of course. Celeb lookbooks and OOTDs (Outfit of the Day) are as hyped up as they can be. Search up the hashtag ‘#OOTD’ on Instagram, and you’ll find dozens of pictures of people chronicling their day-to-day outfit collections, much like Kylie Jenner.

Celebrity style is such a big deal that countless magazines (Seventeen, Cosmopolitan) literally BASE themselves off documenting what each celebrity wore/wears (other than trying to keep tabs on their personal lives). Celebrity Style Guide is a blog that focuses on how one can pull of celebrity looks. The recent Met Gala had social media companies like Buzzfeed basing its content on documenting what each celebrity wore, and details about their dresses.

The problem, however, with imitating celebrity style is that it isn’t going to easy on your pockets, honey. These celebrities have an almost limitless supply of money that aids them in pulling off their glamorous lifestyles, their OOTDs, their Instagram photos and so much more. It’s their job to keep up these lifestyles… though, that doesn’t mean it’s completely impossible for you to dress as well as them. Nope. There is still hope.

There are lots of retailers and online shops that aim to re-create celebrity must-have outfits – but for cheaper, so that they are more accessible for us common folk. Celebrities tend to wear high-end brands, but these retailers focus on re-creating such looks. Another way to mirror celeb style without breaking the bank is through discounts and coupons! We’ve compiled together a list to help you pull off the best OOTDs and lookbooks. All hope is not lost!

Clearance Sales!

There are websites like thecelebritydresses.com which are focused solely on getting you the celebrity look – for less! To be even kinder to your bank, check out all the items on their clearance sales AND be sure to keep your eye on their daily deals (so you might have to check their website daily, but those sweet deals would be WORTH IT!). They even have a whole section dedicated to clothes under $50. Your bank will love you for this.

Student Discounts

Your student ID can save you some serious cash, man. Places like MissGuided and Bohhoo (in the case of the latter, you will have to register with UNiDAYS) offer a whopping 30% discount to students. That’s INSANE! Make use of your student ID while you’re still in college… or even later. Here is a handy guide on how to continue making use of those golden markdowns long after graduation.

General Discounts!

Places like The Trend Boutique,Warrior Jackets and Boutique to You have INSANE discounts that you should check out because their main aim is to provide celebrity style to you at less. These places also offer FREE SHIPPING* which will save you a lot of cash.

Thrift it Up!

You could definitely try your hand at thrift stores to second-hand celeb style clothes, though you would have to be extra careful as some of those clothes could have rips, stains and tears! So, thrifting has to be done with caution, but the upside is that you can definitely negotiate the prices (which will have your bank thanking you, yet again). You could also choose the electronic route with Depop!

Depop is basically the lovechild of Instagram and eBay. It is a social media-esque online marketplace where sellers upload pictures of the used (or handcrafted) items they own that they want to sell. What’s good for buyers is that they can buy the clothes they want to buy (and yes, that includes celeb style clothing) at a knocked down price or hunt for designer pieces without paying the original price. Some sellers might be rigid with their prices, but there is always room for negotiation through DMs. 😉

Download the app and thrift it up!

Coupons!

Gone are the days of waiting for coupons in your mailboxes. Now with websites like Groupon.com and Coupon.com, you can get discounts that you could have never even imagined. Of course these work with clothes, as well. Here is a handy guide on how to automate your coupons and get the best prices.

Rent Dresses!

If you need to look like a celebrity for a one-time event, renting is your best option. “Whether you have a wedding a formal gala prom, you can copy someone you like for minimal dollars instead of paying hundreds for a dress you’re going to wear one time,” said Janean Murphy, stylist with Lia Sophia.Rent The Runway and Lending Luxury allow you the option to rent these gorgeous dresses at a fraction of the cost!

I hope this article provided lots of helpful ways for all of you to save some cash.
