Date Night Ideas for Valentine's Day with Kids

Being a parent is a fabulous job! Yeah, there is no pay, but getting paid in hugs and kisses makes the long hours and overtime worth it. While there are a ton of advantages, there are a few disadvantages. For starters, like upcoming Valentine’s Day, date nights with your significant other are few and far between. More often than not kids accompany their parents on date night, so why not include them? Here are 10 Valentine’s Day Date Night Ideas with Kids.

*What’s more fun than going to see a movie? Sure you can’t see the latest horror or romance flick, but family friendly movies are just as great! Plus, you and your honey can still hold hands and sneak in a kiss or two on the cheeks.  AMC Theatres has some great promos going on right now, plus you’ll get awesome perks when you join the Stubs Program!

*Visit an arcade! This is a fun date idea, even without kids. They will surely have a hoot watching mom and dad battle it out over a game of Pac-Man. Want discounts? Head over HERE and HERE for great offers!

*Play a round (or two) of mini golf. Pair off into teams and see who can win! Kids love a friendly game, especially if they win.  Putt Putt Fun Center is currently offering up to 50% off family fun nights, too!

*Visit the local bowling alley. Nowadays, bowling alleys are so much more than they used to be. Now they have arcades, an area to eat at, black light bowling, and more. This is the ultimate place for a kid friendly date night.

*Check to see if any special events are going on at the Zoo. Right now, the Dallas Zoo is offering Penguin Days admission for only $7!  If you have little ones, this is a great adventure for them, plus, they’ll be tuckered out from the excitement, in case you had a romantic night of your own planned.  It’s win-win!

*Have an early afternoon date and visit the museum. Check out some museum options HERE. Train museums are so much fun, and kids can pretend they are in the old west and escaping robbers. You’ll find lots of great, FREE things to do with the family in our post: Top 10 FREE Things to do in Dallas, too.

*Stay in for date night at home. Involve the kids with cooking dinner and setting a special table. Make some of these Valentine’s Day sweet treats with the kids! After dinner is done, having a slumber party in the living room and watching a cute movie is the perfect ending to a great day.

*Many ice cream parlors offer a free or discounted kids scoop. Hanging around the ice cream parlor is something everyone can enjoy. Bonus points if they have Superman Ice Cream! Save up to 66% of ice cream around Dallas HERE, and score a FREE scoop from Baskin Robbins HERE!

Get outdoors! Print out a fun scavenger list and take a hike around a beautiful and scenic area. Winner gets to pick dinner. You can even explore your own backyard and see if the kids can discover anything new.  If the weather isn’t inviting, or it’s too dark, place random objects around your back  yard or home and have the kids hunt for them.

*Host a dance party, at home. Let the kids get all dressed up in their favorite party attire, and parents can dazzle them with their best outfits, too. Set out a few finger foods and treats, including a fun punch. Visit Youtube and pick out a dance mix. Kids will really love having a “party” with mom and dad.

No need to stay at home and put plans on hold this Valentine’s Day! Kids can join in on just about any date night ideas, plus kids always make things more fun!
