7 Ways To Save At CVS Pharmacy

Saving time and money is important, My secret? CVS pharmacy.  Let’s face it, it’s really NO secret you can save at CVS pharmacy AND it’s no secret there is probably one close to you that has just about anything you need from food, toiletries, beauty supplies, pharmacy, gifts and much more!

Here are a few of my favorite ways to save:

1. Sign up for an ExtraCare Card and Earn ExtraBucks Rewards

If you’re shopping at CVS then signing up for ExtraBucks Rewards is a MUST!

ExtraSavings are coupons and instant savings you’ll get through personalized coupons, weekly in-store sales, email offers and more. ExtraBucks Rewards are like free CVS money earned on everyday purchases.

So how do you get ExtraBucks? Each week, certain items are designated “ExtraBuck Offers.” It’s important to review the CVS Advertisement before you go.

Once you get going, you can start “rolling” your ExtraBucks. You know you’ve reached optimum savings when you hand over a stack of ExtraBucks from your last shopping trip, which gets your price down to just a few dollars. And then even more print out to use next time.

Before you check out, don’t forget to hand your card to the cashier. Every three months, you’ll get back 2% of what you’ve spent in the form of ExtraBucks, so you want to make sure every purchase you make qualifies for that 2%. Keep in mind that certain items will not qualify, such as gift cards, alcohol and stamps.

2. Scan Your ExtraCare Card Before and After Every Trip

Every CVS has a red machine that somewhat looks like an ATM,  (we sometimes call it the Red Coupon Machine). The first thing you should do when you walk into a CVS is scan your card at this machine. It will immediately give you several random coupons. You might get something like “$5 off $15 oral care purchase” or “$3 off $11 personal cleansing.” You never know what you’ll get. Many of these coupons are triggered by what you already purchase. You can use the coupons immediately or save them for a later date. What we often find is that they match with a current sale which will help you save you BIG on the item!

3. Register for Additional ExtraBucks Offers

Get more ExtraBucks by taking advantage of additional CVS programs. If you have prescriptions, get them from CVS and sign up for the ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards. You’ll get $5 ECBs for every 10 prescriptions you fill.

The ExtraCare Beauty Club is another great way to rake in the ECBs. You get $3 ECBs for every $30 you spend, plus $3 ECBs every year on your birthday. Even if you don’t buy a lot of makeup, several other items are included in Beauty Club such as shampoo, body wash and face wash.

4. Subscribe to personalized email offers

You just opt into receiving email offers through the ExtraCare Rewards program and you’ll receive rewards based on your shopping habits.

I actually look forward to the emails!  For example, I was getting low on toothpaste.  Well, lookie what came in my email inbox, an extra $2 off oral care. Woohoo!  I simply sent it to my card from my email and knew I would save when I had time to go!

5. Download the CVS app

Don’t want to clip or keep your ExtraBucks on hand? Simply download the CVS app!  Just for doing so, you instantly get $3 ExtraBucks® Rewards when you link your ExtraRewards account. Now you can send relevant offers to your card, including deals, discounts, and ExtraBucks. Be sure to scan your ExtraCare card upon check out to ensure you are getting the latest offers and savings from CVS.

The ExtraCare rewards program is probably my number one most favorite way to save. Better yet, they learn my habits and send me deals and offers on items they know I buy.  It really doesn’t get much better than that.  No printing, no clipping… just send the offer to my card and save.

6. Join the CVS Advisor Panel

By signing up to be a member of the CVS Advisor Panel, you’ll receive links to online surveys a couple times a year. Joining will help you shape what CVS offers in their stores and what their service is like, but even better, you’ll earn ExtraBucks each time you participate.

7. Get to know your Pharmacist

When purchasing prescriptions at CVS it’s important to get to know your Pharmacist. For example my son had swimmers ear this year. Since I have a good relationship with my Pharmacist I received a call after the prescription was sent by his Doctor letting me know that the cost would be $275! We discussed the ear drops and another prescription that the Pharmacist thought would work just as well and then they called my son’s Pediatrician back for a new script that only cost me $12.

PLUS don’t forget CVS Pharmacy is now located within Target stores which gives us double the convenience with locations everywhere you turn!

It’s also time for us to get our flu shots! If you get a flu shot (free with most insurance) at CVS you’ll receive a $5 off $25 coupon or a $5 Target gift card if you’re vaccinated at a CVS inside Target location.

How do you save at CVS?
