Throughout the month of February/March at various locations, girls ages 8 and up can participate in various FREE events. Head over here to see the full list of dates and participating locations as well as a phone number to make reservations.
Bass Pro Kids Fishing
Join Bass Pro at 11am each Saturday. Your kids are welcome to fish on their pond. Bass Pro supplies a fishing rod, reel, bobber and worms. All fishing is catch and release. Fishing is first come first serve and cancelled if there is rain or lightening. This is free to participate. Bobbers and worms are the only bait they allow to be used on their pond.

A new initiative to get all 4th graders and their families to experience the places that are home to our country’s natural treasures, rich history, and vibrant culture FREE OF CHARGE! Soon, you will have access to your own Every Kid in a Park pass. This pass will give you free access to national parks, national forests, national wildlife refuges, and more! The Every Kid in a Park pass will be available for the 2015-2016 school year.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditoriums are celebrating the 8th annual World Sword Swallower’s Day with performances by death-defying sword swallowers!
Ticketed performances start around 2:00 PM, with an official “simultaneous swallow” taking place at 2:28 PM on February 28, 2015. And sword swallowing shows outside of the Odditoriums are FREE!

The Dallas Festival of Ideas returns Saturday, Feb. 28 with FREE family programming in the lobby of the Winspear Opera House from 9am – 5pm. There are three different areas including:
- The Ideas Stage –Artists, dancers, singers and musicians will perform on the hour throughout the day beginning at 10 a.m.
- The Inspire & Discover area – Kids and adults alike can come, play and interact with others during crafts and games. A few examples include:
* Build your own city with pipe cleaners, straws and other household items
* Design a t-shirt
* Create your own glitter ball
* Watch the 1967 movie “The Walls are Rising”
- The Engage & Act area – Learn more about Dallas nonprofits and be a part of the future of Dallas
Additionally, there will be a free lunchtime panel at Booker T. Washington to discuss “How can Dallas Attract & Retain its Local Talent?” and T.D. Jakes will give closing remarks at The Dallas City Performance Hall at 4:45 p.m.
