stingerWith all of this rain we’ve had in Texas the mosquitos have been BRUTAL!  Trying to have a little outdoor fun with the family can prove to be a challenge without all smelling like mosquito repellant.  Here is one of my new favorite things to keep those little pests away and still look stylish!  Check out this Stinger Mosquito Repellent Lantern.  Plus it’s only $15.60 right now (retail $25.99)

I actually really love the night glow it emits and yes, it DOES work.  We sat out last night by the pool and didn’t have the mosquitos nipping at us.

It’s so cute AND functional at the same time. The lantern offers a small and colorful solution to dress up any outdoor space, all while keeping those pesky mosquitoes far away from food and guests.

I loved the fact that I didn’t have to douse my daughter in bug spray while we were out.

Do you ever find a product that is so cool that you ask yourself, “Why didn’t I think of that?”

The Coloring Table has these fabric tablecloths with a durable laminate backing meant to be colored on with fabric markers or washable markers.  Our table has been the gathering spot for all the neighbor girls.  My 17 year old son has even taken part.  Honestly, one of the best items I’ve bought in a very long time!

Tablecloths start at $35 (markers included) or you can buy by the yard too starting at $16. What a great idea for birthday parties, gifts, family get togethers, even for Father’s Day as a great activity for the whole family!  We have the Food Fun tablecloth, but they also offer the “Frame Fun” design on the website as a limited time offer.

Plus, use promo code DFWFREE to get FREE shipping. Just type in the coupon code DFWFREE and then click the option “Free shipping” when it pops up on your cart subtotal.

I put it out on the table for Ava last night when she got home from gymnastics.  Her first response…”COOOOOOOL!”  She ate and colored and colored and ate.  I can’t wait to get her friends over as well to help in her masterpiece!

There are so many more amazing things about this company beyond just the product. A native Texan, Megan Dove is a genuine “mom-trepreneur, ” who developed this product. It just launched online in April.

tableclothIn February 2014, she was hosting her dad’s 60th birthday party and wanted a tablecloth they could all color on, sign, and give to him as a keepsake. After not having finding this in her local stores, she went to order online. When she couldn’t find exactly what she had in mind, she was encouraged to create it for herself.

The fabric is entirely American made. The most fabulous part of the production process is that it is cut and sewn at a vocational industrial service warehouse that employs persons with disabilities. The company is very inspiring (and Megan spends lots of time there!).

The fabric is one-of-a-kind because of it’s special finish, whimsical designs, and unique backing. They did lots of testing on different kinds of fabric and realized that there is NO fabric that can guarantee marker wont bleed through. Megan’s family teases that their three-year-old was the best product tester possible for this. That’s when they came up with the solution to marry the fabric with the unique laminate backing. The color will stay on the front and we guarantee it wont bleed through to damage your table.

*The tablecloth is special because it can be used with permanent fabric marker as a keepsake or with washable markers and crayons for multiple uses.

* The tablecloth is machine washable and wrinkle-free. (It’s seriously amazing! 🙂 )

* This tablecloth can be left on the table for an easy come-and-go activity (with easy set up and no clean up), at a party, or for any creative, out of the box use!

* One of our biggest pieces of feedback so far is that this tablecloth is amazing for children with special needs. It has become physical therapy and speech therapy for many children.

This goes in “My Favorite Things” category.  No matter what your age, we all love to color and I love their tagline,  “Color in the lines and think outside the box.”

Are you looking for a unique Father’s Day gift?  Here are some ideas to get you thinking about what is special for the Dad in your life!

PLUS you can use promo code LT1506 to get an additional 20% off!

For under $25 I got this amazing photo framed and wrapped in a pretty package.  If you are strapped by time, this is a perfect solution as it doesn’t get any easier than this!!! The color quality is amazing and the picture frame is great quality too!  You can use any photo from your mobile, laptop, Facebook or Instagram.  Plus there are a ton of great frames to choose from too!

father's day

Since Geno is always traveling, I wanted to get some things he could use.  I ran up to CVS and grabbed some Gold Emblem snacks since he rarely eats when he is on the road.  I grabbed beef jerky, pistachios, cashews… items he can easily take with him on the road.

I also grabbed some shaving needs from CVS since he seems to run out whenever he’s out.  Razors, shaving cream, etc.  I topped the gift basket with a massage gift card from Massage Envy, and an Academy and Target gift card so he could pick up some items he wanted.

This year I wanted to get him some special items, but practical items as well.  I hope he enjoys his Father’s Day gift.  I had so much fun putting it together and it didn’t take long!  I ordered the frame online and ran up to CVS for the rest.  Easy Peasy!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Puerto Rico, The All-Star Island for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Screen Shot 2015-05-14 at 5.37.09 PM Screen Shot 2015-05-14 at 5.10.07 PMI am WELL overdue for a vacation!  WELL overdue.  Let’s face it, the end of the school year, 3 jobs, kids and sports and a husband that travels.  My friends know I’m spent :)! What do I need?  A little down time!  This year we are going to explore Puerto Rico. We’ve heard so much about it through Nick’s baseball.  Well, I did some searching on vacations to Puerto Rico and I had no idea what is in store for us! Puerto Rico is filled with world-class attractions that will turn any trip into a 5-star vacation story. That’s because I LOVE the beach!  And Puerto Rico is KNOWN for their beaches. There is over  270 miles of coastline and has featured in the Top 10 beaches from Travel Channel — including Flamenco Beach in Culebra, often cited as one of the best beaches in the world. I want to be THIS girl.  Well, I may not be as graceful as her, BUT my toes will be in THAT water. Here are our plans in Puerto Rico: Screen Shot 2015-05-14 at 5.12.50 PM

1) Beach (rum) bum– ’nuff said 🙂

2) Golf ~ Yep, I LOVE to golf but never find the time.  Geno and I are going to check out the Fort Buchanan Golf Club in Guaynabo.  Funny story, on our honeymoon in Jamaica, Screen Shot 2015-05-14 at 5.09.25 PMI out drove him EVERY time!  My goal is to do it again!  LOL!

3) BEACH

4) Rappelling~ As I’m getting older I realize there are things I just haven’t done yet. I’m going to write rappelling off my bucket list as we plan to rappell at Campo Rico Cave, Rappelling & Ziplining Safari.

5) Dancing Screen Shot 2015-05-14 at 5.10.59 PM& Casino ~ The nightlife is HOPPING in Puerto Rico.  I met my husband on the dance floor and I intend on re-igniting some flames on the dance floor again!  Plus a few rounds of blackjack won’t hurt us either…just a FEW! Screen Shot 2015-05-14 at 5.11.39 PM

6) Horseback Riding ~ I love riding horses. I actually learned how to barrel race at one point in my life! I can’t wait to take in the scenery!

7) Sightseeing ~ We’re going to check out the Camuy caverns that runs through the 3rd largest subterranean river in the world.

8) Yes, BEACH!

9) Rainforest ~  sad to say, but I’ve never been to a rainforest.  I’m going to the only rainforest under US national park service, El Yunque, and climb to the clouds.

10) Baseball (yep, I’m a baseball mom through and through and I have to  see the competition my son will face this summer as teams will be at his tournaments! hahaha)

I’m so excited about this trip as there are so many amazing things to do that it’s going to feel like a 5-star vacation!  I’ll let you know how it goes!   Live your own 5-star vacation story in Puerto Rico.

PediaQ ~ New “UBER” in On-Demand Pediatric Care + $50 Discount

Parents, we’ve all been there.  It’s 9:00 p.m. at night, your child is sick and your other children are sleeping.  The hubby isn’t home.  What is your choice?  Wake up the other kids, lug them to urgent care and get your antibiotic.  Not anymore because there’s an app for that!  New in Dallas, nurse practitioners are making house calls for sick kids with PediaQ.

This takes convenience to a whole “notha” level!  You get  the same quality of care as a doctor’s office but with the comfort and convenience of staying at home. There’s no risk of being exposed to other sick kids in a waiting area. And PediaQ will follow up with the family and their pediatrician the next day.

Screen Shot 2015-04-28 at 6.22.13 PMUsing an Uber-like app on their iPhone, parents can put in a request for service from PediaQ . A nurse practitioner will call for details and make sure it’s not an emergency that warrants a trip to the ER. Then the practitioner will come to your home, a babsitters house, hotel room, where ever, within an hour.

Nurse practitioners can treat a long list of ailments and can write prescriptions. And for an extra fee, they’ll even pick up your prescription at a nearby pharmacy and deliver it to you.

PediaQ launched today and so far during beta testing, the reviews were REMARKABLE!

Screen Shot 2015-04-28 at 6.20.38 PMPediaQ is offering $50 off the first visit with promo PDQ15. PediaQ is available from 4pm-12am on weekdays and 8am-12am on weekends. PediaQ will soon expand hours of operations to 4pm-8am on weekdays and 24 hours per day on weekends. For more information visit their website (www.pediaq.care) and follow them on Facebook (www.facebook.com/pediaq)

A visit costs $150 — after 10 p.m. it goes up to $250. Other services like lab tests cost extra.

PediaQ doesn’t accept insurance. But prices are competitive with urgent care centers and typically less expensive than an ER visit. And its bill has all the detail that families need to submit to their insurance provider for reimbursement. In many cases a PediaQ visit would be considered an out-of-network expense.  In my personal case, it would cost me $75 after my insurance paid me back.  Well worth the time and effort and keeping my child at home and comfortable.

PediaQ is a potential game changer for parents in need of non-emergency, pediatric urgent care services when their pediatricians’ offices are closed.  Check out this video for more information!
