Law enforcement officers from throughout the greater Dallas / Fort Worth area will stake out Dunkin’ Donuts to benefit Special Olympics Texas, on Saturday September 23rd from 6:30 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. Rain or shine, police officers are scheduled to cover approximately 27 Dunkin’ Donuts to heighten awareness and raise money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) for Special Olympics Texas. In return for the police officers “doing time” at their restaurants, Dunkin’ Donuts will offer a free donut with any beverage purchase to each guest who visits a Dallas/ Fort Worth area Dunkin’ Donuts location that day and makes a donation.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Started in 1981 by Wichita, Kansas Police Chief Richard LaMunyon, the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is Special Olympics’ largest grassroots fund-raiser and public awareness vehicle in the world. Law enforcement officers throughout the world carry the “Flame of Hope” through the streets of their communities and deliver it to their local, state, national or world Special Olympics Games.
