Looking for something to do this evening? Check out Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art! Join them for their annual birthday celebration to kick off the new year! Travel back to the Middle Ages with talks, tours, films, performances, and more celebrating our new exhibition “Art and Nature in the Middle Ages.”

Late Night Talk — 7 p.m. From Cowhide to Codex: Exploring the Art and Beauty of Medieval Manuscripts. Dr. Danielle Joyner will introduce some of the basic methods of medieval illuminated manuscript production and explore the beauty and the function of a diverse selection of codices, from sacred Gospels to popular romances.

Family Story Time — 7:30 p.m. Here there be dragons. Join us for an interactive story time for kids, knights, and dragons alike. We’ll read stories of terrible dragons and book-loving knights, brush up on our dragon-hunting skills, and then search for the mythical beasts in the Museum galleries.

Late Night Main Stage — 8 p.m. Listen to music of the Middle Ages performed by ensemble Istanpitta. Istanpitta consists of musicians playing a variety of period instruments including lute, saz, early percussion, vielles, bagpipes, and voice who perform live at formal concert venues, universities, and festivals.

Late Night Film — 10 p.m. Set in medieval France, Ladyhawke tells the story of two cursed lovers who can only meet in human form at dawn and dusk and the young thief who helps them set things right.
