This year, Norma’s Cafe, Dallas’ dining icon that has served DFW home cooking for more than 62 years, continues a 30 year long tradition as it opens its Oak Cliff doors on Thursday, Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for its annual free Thanksgiving dinner.

Guests taking part in the free Thanksgiving dinner will be served a feast of holiday favorites, including turkey and dressing with giblet gravy and cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, English peas, salad, rolls, fruit and dessert. The free meal will only be available at the original Norma’s Cafe Oak Cliff location on 1123 W. Davis Street in Dallas. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, as thousands of meals will be served between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

“It’s humbling to work with members of our community who have such a great passion for giving back to our Dallas neighbors who would otherwise be alone on Thanksgiving,” said Ed Murph, owner of Norma’s Cafe. “It’s hard to believe we served 100 free meals 30 years ago when we started this tradition, which has now turned into more than 8,000 free meals to individuals, families, local homeless shelters and houses of worship. We truly could not accomplish this level of giving back without the incredible community of team members, partners and volunteers who have stood beside us throughout the years.”

To honor its 30th year, Norma’s Cafe has partnered with Dallas-based custom t-shirt design company, Bullzerk, to “Take a Slice Out of Hunger” with a t-shirt fundraiser. Norma’s Cafe custom Thanksgiving t-shirts will be sold online, at all five Norma’s Cafe locations and at Bullzerk locations for $23. All proceeds will be donated to CitySquare, a local non-profit that provides service programs for hunger, health, housing and hope across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

“CitySquare is honored and grateful to be chosen by Norma’s Cafe for their annual Thanksgiving fundraiser,” said Larry James, CEO of CitySquare. “Money raised by the team at Norma’s will go right back into our community through the work our programs do to fight poverty here in Dallas.”

In addition to t-shirt sales, Norma’s Cafe guests have the opportunity to give back by donating a Mile-High Pie™ as part of their Thanksgiving meal order or make a cash donation.

The 2018 Thanksgiving event is made possible in part by several generous sponsors, including Bullzerk, Ben E. Keith, Classic Caps and Embroidery, Centennial Radiator Service, Community Coffee, Evan’s Engraving, Buckhead Beef, Hill Country Dairy, Mrs. Baird’s, and Varidoc Printing.
