Starting November 4th, Walgreens is changing their Bonus Points redemption levels.

Now, every 1,000 points will equal $1 and the maximum redemption limit per transaction will be 5,000 points ($5 reward), which means that your points will be of less value as you accumulate them. Plus, you’ll only be able to redeem points at the following five tiers below, which will include a new 4,000 point tier.

  • 1,000 points = $1 discount
  • 2,000 points = $2 discount
  • 3,000 points = $3 discount
  • 4,000 points = $4 discount
  • 5,000 points = $5 discount (max)

So…if you have a lot of points in your Balance Rewards account, use them before November 4th as the point values will be reduced by up to 20% and the maximum redemption will be limited to 5,000 points per transaction – instead of the current 40,000 limit.

Points cannot be redeemed to purchase alcohol, dairy, tobacco, prepaid cards, clinic services, prescriptions, pharmacy items or services, contact lenses, and photo orders not picked up in store.
