Have you ever eaten yourself sick? Well, I just did. It was so good I couldn’t stop…I’m not kiddin’! I was invited to a blogger event to go and check out the new Modmarket in Flower Mound.
It’s such a unique concept in eating out and a great addition in the Flower Mound community. It’s just simple, real food.
Everything is made from scratch and caters to the area where the restaurant is located. Modmarket was founded in Boulder and moved throughout the Denver area. We are fortunate that they’ve chosen the Dallas Metroplex as their next new venture. Check here as there might be a Modmarket coming near you soon!
The Mod Diet is quite straightforward, actually. They serve real food, which means using whole ingredients (things like whole grain flour, raw vegetables, fruits, legumes…you get the idea). They also incorporate real butter (gasp!) and quality meats and cheeses in their recipes. And they cook it all the way it was done hundreds of years ago – raw, grilled, or cooked in a stone hearth oven. They avoid things like preservatives and artificial sweeteners and keep the ingredient lists short and sweet. They make things from scratch, which is a total pain, but it makes the food taste better. They serve gluten free and vegan, too!
The prices are reasonable for the plate size. (I didn’t list the prices because I brought the wrong glasses and couldn’t see the menu (aaaagh, hate that and I hate aging EYES!), but the bloggers were commenting on how good the prices were, so I’ll take their word for it :)!
We tried a little bit of everything:
The Farmer Salad is pictured above. The fresh corn was a great kicker!
Then they brought out their sandwiches to taste. Funny thing is…sandwiches weren’t on the menu until recently and I’m SURE glad Modmarket added them. Here is a must try:
Arugula Mozz sandwich with Fresh Mozzarella, Basil, Basil Aioli, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Arugula, Tomato, Izzio’s Ciabatta~ THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE SANDWICH!
And their brick oven pizzas are amazing. Of course they have the regulars, i.e. pepperoni and M’Rita. But then they go seasonal on us to and crock up a Bacon Corn pizza made from Creme Fraiche, Roasted Corn, All Natural, Nitrate Free Bacon, 3 Cheese Blend, Basil, Whole Grain Dough. BRILLIANT & Delish!
They even serve boxed water. What a genius concept and so flippin’ cute! Also they serve $2 glasses of wine (from France!) and $3.50 beer.
They serve breakfast as well, so I’ll have to go back and give it a try.
Finally, when you get your bill, it also shows the amount of calories in the meal you eat so you can tally it up. That was NOT a good thing for me to see today. No joke, I had 1 1/2 sandwiches, 2 slices of pizza, 2 helpings of salad, hibiscus tea and 2 desserts. I ate enough calories to last me for a WEEK! Yes, I ate myself sick, but LOVED every minute of it!
