Stock-up price will vary depending on what region of the country you live in and how close to Thanksgiving you purchase your turkey. Remember – you’ll pay nearly DOUBLE for a fresh turkey, that you will pay for a frozen bird. This is important because we are thrifty shoppers and we want the best deal for the most value! We will say that generally a great stock-up price for a frozen, whole turkey (always buy whole!) will be between 39¢ and 59¢ per pound. Finding a frozen, whole turkey under $1 per pound is a good deal. Do the math and bring your calculator with you! ALSO, be sure that the butcher’s calculations are correct. If you are supposed to be paying 79¢/lb, and the total seems a little high, it may just be!
